I love this so much! Just had a conversation about this very topic with my dad. It is scary to be vulnerable, but writing our feelings helps us understand them, and grow.
Thank you for this revelation. I have had such a struggle in writing a chapter in my memoir. I need to mediate on God's perspective and listen, then write. 🤔
That was awesome. You're right. Writing frees up deep down spiritual struggling. It brings things to light that we may not like about ourselves; as well as things we never appreciated about ourself. It calls us to the carpet. God's Words are like that too. Writing, to me, is freeing.
Amen, Rebecca 💛 it’s funny how whenever I sit down to write something I think I understand, I realize how much I don’t understand! Partnership with the Holy Spirit in these spaces has been such a precious gift. He is the Spirit of truth and wisdom, and I feel so seen when he searches my heart and reveals more of the Father’s heart to me.
So true, even in the fiction stories I write where I think I know the topic, there's still a nuance that shows up as I flesh out the story and ends up expanding on my previous thoughts.
this is so true!! i think it was jordan peterson who once said that if you can read, write, and speak well—you can think well. writing is thinking, at it’s very core. it’s working something out. and when we invite the Lord into that process, when we write to His glory, when we ask Him to help us think through writing, He points us to the right answers, eventually.
We write to understand!
Thank you for highlighting this.
